Meet Our Guests and Your Host

Erin Marlow ✩ Creator of It’s a Fandom Thing and Your Host
Erin had been dreaming of starting a podcast for years and went through several ideas before landing on It’s a Fandom Thing. Erin’s goal in creating the podcast was to create a safe space where women and female-identifying individuals could find a safe place to freely express their love and critique the pop culture and fandoms they love. Since starting the podcast in 2019, Erin’s goals have extended beyond just her initial ones. She now hopes that It’s a Fandom Thing can be a safe space for all of those who feel like outsiders in the fandom and pop culture world.

Carla ✩ Ok Real Quick
Carla Temis loves to talk, in general, but specifically about pop culture and social issues.

She can find depth in the silly, silliness in the serious, and approaches entertainment media with curiosity, humor, and a desire to tease out the elements in a story that speak to the human condition.

Carla hosts Ok Real Quick Pod, co-hosted Bed Wed Or Behead, has been a guest panelist on over two hundred episodes of It’s A Fandom Thing Pod, and has appeared on many other podcasts.

Eric ✩ The Great Pop Culture Debate
Each episode, the Great Pop Culture Debate podcast discusses and dissects a different topic in movies, music, TV, video games and more. From Best Disney Animated Feature to Best Song of 2015 to Best Star Wars Character, we’ve covered more than 200 topics, researching each option and arguing and insulting each other for your amusement. Have YOUR say by voting on the polls that determine what we debate next, or find the listener bracket and play along with us at home. Find out more at http://www.greatpopculturedebate.com, and be sure to sign up for our weekly newsletter to keep up to date with everything coming out in pop culture each week.

Erin A. ✩ It’s a Fandom Thing
Erin works behind the scenes at the pod, and you can sometimes hear her as a panelist on episodes. Her top fandoms are Doctor Who, Supernatural, Wynonna Earp, Star Wars, and just about anything sci-fi. Most evenings, she can be found in her craft studio working on sewing or embroidery. She’s an aspiring textile artist, lazy cosplayer, and convention nerd.

Jenn ✩ My Streaming Bubble
Hi, I’m Jenn, and I’m the host of the podcast, My Streaming Bubble, where I talk about the shows I loooove with the people I tolerate. I also co-host the podcast Twin It to Win It, where Erin, from It’s a Fandom Thing, and I test our twinningness by guessing how we feel about different horror movies. But when I’m not watching TV or talking with people who watch TV, I do the mom thing for 2 boys, the wife thing for The Hubby, and the librarian thing for the library. I also enjoy baking, listening to audiobooks, and providing the lap for our cat Sergeant Snuggles’ naps (he may be the family pet, but he’s my cat). Want to know more? Then be sure to download an episode or 6 of each, and Keep Streaming!

KJ ✩ SoCo Women in Horror Festival
KJ Brantley is a horror author, founder of the SoCo Women in Horror Fest, and host of the Uncanny Women Podcast, where she has in-depth conversations with women shaping the genre. Her work draws on psychological and folk elements, often exploring motherhood, feminism, and identity. She is passionate about building community in horror and amplifying voices that haven’t always been centered. She lives in Colorado with her husband and two toddlers, an experience that informs both her work and her tolerance for chaos. She can be followed on Instagram and Threads at @authorkjbrantley.

Meg ✩ Bed Wed or Behead
Meg is a mom and wife who is still looking for a job as a professional binge watcher. She is the co-host of the Bed Wed, or Behead, podcast and loves nothing more than shouting into the void about the shows, movies, books, and characters that she loves, hates, and loves to hate. She’s a forever shipper, and these days her favorite thing has been introducing her kids to her favorite shows.

Paula ✩ It’s a Dean Thing
Paula is one of the co-hosts of It’s a Dean Thing podcast and a panelist for It’s a Fandom Thing podcast. She enjoys video, tabletop RPG, and board gaming; reading the latest sci-fi novels and all things Star Wars and Supernatural. She can be found online @itsmysandbox on most social media platforms and on the It’s a Fandom Thing discord server.

Ryan ✩ Soundtrack Your Life
Ryan Pak is an IT professional by day, podcaster by night. He co-hosts Soundtrack Your Life with Nicole Barlow where they speak with guests about soundtracks that are important to them. A picture of him was used on a website / promotional photos for an ice cream brand for over 10 years.

Sloan ✩ The Blue Chairs
D1 couch potato, professional binge watcher, and Trolli addict. Movies are good, music is good, and oh yeah, I play volleyball sometimes.

Tiff ✩ The Blue Chairs
I get my obsession from sci-fi honestly: my dad is a huge Trekkie and passed it down to me. From a young age, my desire to read any and everything, to absorb all of the things, made me appreciate writing, theater, film, and television. Fandom wasn’t really a part of my personal zeitgeist until The Mindy Project came along. Chatting it up on the daily with my fellow Mindians made me know there were others who held the same love of pop culture.

Erin’s podcast, baby, let me dork out about my passion for all things Lord of the Rings. It’s also shared some of the best topical discussions with the brightest minds out there. Being a frequent panelist brings me so much joy and allows me to share that joy with others.

So this is me. A Trekkie, a LOTR obsessive, a book nerd, and a musical jammer. Take me as I am, or don’t take me at all. 😏
